Rick Corcoran

Rick is a Partner of Slate Capital Group, which he co-founded in 2004. Rick has been an investor, entrepreneur, operator and consultant. Rick formerly served as interim CEO of First Source, LLC, a Slate portfolio company and the leading distributor, packager and manufacturer of candy, nuts and specialty foods in the United States. Before that, he served as CEO of CoastTec (formerly Coastal Business Machines, LLC), a Slate portfolio company that is the leader in refurbishment and repair of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). He also co-founded and served as COO and President of Let’s Dish! Mid Atlantic, a retail chain of meal-assembly stores in Maryland and Virginia.

Prior to Slate, Rick co-founded NVC, LLC, a private buyout firm focused on small-to-middle-market companies in the mid-Atlantic region. As an extension of NVC’s healthcare work, he helped develop a niche practice doing Board-level strategic financial consulting projects in the hospital industry.

Before NVC, Rick worked for The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where his casework spanned retail, consumer goods, distribution, health care, media and financial services. He also did extensive pro-bono work on inner-city economic development. He served for over a year in BCG’s private equity practice, sourcing deals and performing due diligence for major private equity clients. He also held internal leadership positions in undergraduate recruiting and analyst training.

Rick has also been a sales account manager at Procter & Gamble, a business development manager at Excite@Home (early internet search and broadband), and a founder/manager of a retail furniture business. He got his entrepreneurial start when he founded a landscaping/house painting business that he grew throughout high school and college.

After playing basketball for three years in college, Rick co-founded an adventure racing team which competed successfully around the world and officially completed the 1999 Eco Challenge in Patagonia, Argentina. He continues to train for road and trail races and ultra-hiking expeditions (see: www.sufferfest.net), and tries to play pickup basketball as much as his body will allow.

Rick either currently serves or has served on the board of directors of CoastTec, Let’s Dish! Mid-Atlantic, eCoast Marketing, Broadcast Sports International, White Distribution & Supply, First Source, Horizon Facilities Services, Nova Technologies, Cumberland Diversified Metals, Vertical Mechanical Group and O’Donnell Metal Deck.

Rick serves as a Board Member of Children’s Scholarship Fund Baltimore, which provides scholarships to low-income Baltimore City families, and of Cooperative for Education (CoEd), a Cincinnati-based non-profit that seeks to break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala through literacy education. Rick has previously served as a Trustee of The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, has been active in the growth of Girls on the Run in Baltimore City and has served on the Board of The Pratt Contemporaries, part of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore City.

Rick is a 1995 graduate of Princeton University and received his M.B.A. from Stanford University in 2000.

Rick has two young adult daughters and primarily resides in Cincinnati, OH.
