Cumberland Diversified Metals Marks 40th Year

Cumberland Diversified Metals, a stainless steel and aluminum distributor based in Cleveland, celebrated its 40th year in business in October 2025. The company which specializes in excess, surplus and secondary aluminum and stainless, has built long term-relationships with its valuable suppliers and customers which have enabled the team to achieve this milestone.

CDM was founded in 1985 by Steven Goodman and then bought by three long time employees in 2010 when he retired.  The focus, then and now, was on supplying surplus, excess and secondary nonferrous material to customers across the United States. The business model has not changed with its focus on its valuable customer base and supplier relationships; the overarching goal is about building win-win relationships. While the product mix has evolved to specializing more in aluminum flat roll, stainless is still an important piece of the business.

Operating out of a small sales office, CDM buys metal from all over the country and moves metal to processors and warehouses as close to the metal as possible to keep costs down for its customer base.  

Cumberland Diversified Metals is a sales organization, counting on its experienced sales team to meet the needs of its wide range of customers located throughout the United States.
